The Alabama Regional Extension Center (ALREC) is part of the Center for Strategic Health Innovation (CSHI) in the College of Medicine at the University of South Alabama. ALREC is a leader of healthcare innovation and reform throughout the state of Alabama. Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), ALREC is the product of a $9.1 Million grant awarded to USA CSHI in 2010 by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) . We provide technical assistance and education to providers in Alabama for all stages of Meaningful Use and MACRA. Our goal is to reach all providers in the state with a special focus on rural areas where assistance is most desperately needed. Through our membership and our relationships at the state and federal levels, we are becoming the glue that binds Meaningful Use, health information exchange, and population health and data analytics together to support improved health information technology quality initiatives. Our ultimate goal is to turn data into information and help providers use that information to improve patient outcomes.
ALREC is transforming healthcare through information technology by delivering education, technical and regulatory assistance, collaborative networks for providers, and consultation services to improve the quality and value of healthcare in Alabama.
